Girly Casual Date Night Look

Even though now it is super cold where I live I wanted to share a causal outfit I wore out a few weeks ago. IMG_4995.JPG Yes I had to ham it up a bit with this pose here. I love fun skirts you can twirl in, I’ll forever be a little girl at heart. I purchased both the top and skirt from ASOS. I think the top is very casual and the skirt adds a touch a femininity to the look.
Then for my hair I kept it super simple. I found this look on Pinterest and thought I would give it a shot.

IMG_4997.JPG All you do is place a headband (that goes all the way around you head), mine is from Anthropologie,  on from the back and then just twirl and wrap your hair into the band at the bottom. Then just to make sure it is super secure I added a few bobby pins.

I could do a more detailed post on how to get this hair look if someone wanted – just let me know!
I love everything about this look. The hair style is super easy but you can totally dress it up. The outfit is very comfy and casual but the pop of pink with the skirt is my favorite part of the entire outfit.

Yellow Sundress kind of day

Saturday was my dad’s birthday and yesterday we had a big family dinner to celebrate. I wanted to share my outfit which I think is perfect for a backyard dinner.

Dress – Loft (on sale now!) / Shoes – Sam Edelman

IMG_4980

I love these earrings – I got the blue ones in Italy (back in 2007) and the celtic knot earrings were a gift from my sister back in 2005 (I almost always have those in and so does my sis!)

Clearly a yellow sundress was not just perfect in my mind for the occasion –

IMG_4977

Sometimes you show up places and you match your sister! It was just a yellow dress (both from the loft) kind of day! (yellow is also my dad’s favorite color – yellow for the birthday guy!)

My sister and I tend to shop at the same stores and now that we aren’t living together matching happens!  We do have a decent amount of the same pieces so we tend to text each other if we are going somewhere together as to not be totally twinning BUT sometimes you are both feeling the same color! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Pink Pants and Polka Dots

I went out last Friday for a little girls night at the movies. My friends and I saw The Fault in our Stars (which I loved) and I wanted to share my simple outfit.

Shirt – Zara / Jeans – Gap / Flip Flops – Roxy

DSC_0509

I love this shirt from Zara last season

I really love this outfit because it looks super put together but I chose these pieces because they are extremely comfortable. I don’t go to the movies to fancy – you are sitting in the dark for a few hours so comfy is key. I love the how flowy the shirt is and you can pair it with several different colors!

Green and Yellow

Green is one of my favorite colors and I really love wearing it too. Since spring seems to be FINALLY in full swing I have been embracing bright fun colors.

Dress – JCrew – gift from my sister last summer / Cardigan – AE – super old (similar style)/ Shoes – JCrew Factory

Normally, I would not have paired this outfit right away but as I was searching for a sweater to go with this dress (its sleeveless and it is typically cold where I work) I wanted to go for something bold and not my go to grey sweater.

Headband – Anthropologie

I had second day hair and when I decided on the yellow cardigan I knew I had to wear it with my yellow headband.

Close up on the shoes!

I picked these shoes because if I was going to be bold with colors why not toss in a little leopard print too!

Unplanned Twinning

Have you ever shown up somewhere and you are matching one of your friends? Well, this is not the first time I have got to work and my friend Cara and I are “twinning.”

IMG_4785

I can not tell you how many people asked us if we planned this!

I promise Cara and I did not plan this but we loved it. Orange dresses, fun necklaces and even blue flats – we literally must have been channeling each other when we picked these outfits out!

In case you are interested in either look here is where you can find them –

Cara’s dress is from Victoria Secret. It is no longer sold in orange but there is an amazing hot pink color (and it is on sale!).

My dress is from H&M. The exact dress is no longer sold in orange either but this orange dress (it says coral but looks orange to me!) is very similar and summery.

You know you are wearing a good outfit when your not the only one!

Peter Pan collars

I was very excited when Peter Pan collars came on the fashion scene but I was very skeptical about wearing one. I was not sure I could pull off the look but I tried anyway.

I love the lace detail on this collar

I can’t locate the exact Sperry but they have so many cute ones – I got mine on sale at Macys

I had second day hair so I did a fast inverted or dutch braid (I have seen both names for this)

Since the top is fairly simple aside from the collar, I felt comfortable pairing it with bright blue pants and funky Sperrys.

Easter Outfit

I know Easter was last week but I just took these pictures off my camera and wanted to share! My Easter holiday was spent with my in-laws on Saturday and then with my family on Sunday, though some of my family was still traveling Italy! I was slightly jealous of my parents – even though I just got back from Italy – as they spent Easter in Rome, the idea seems amazing!

Here is what I wore to one of my Easter celebrations –

Top – Madewell / Skirt – JCrew / Shoes – Steve Madden

DSC_0515

I love the detail on this Madewell shirt. It is see through so I put a white tank under it.

I was really proud of that bow! My mom used to always have to tie them for me but she taught me well!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend (both this weekend and last!) and if you celebrate Easter or Passover or neither I hope you enjoy the outfit either way!

Spring Colors – mint and pink

It has been a long time since I posted – I was very busy personally during the month of March and April. I will post more about all of this but I was in New Orleans for a bachelorette party, in my dear friends wedding, traveling in Italy ( ! ), attending another friends wedding and since then I have been dog sitting! Phew!

Anyway – I wanted to post about my outfit that I wore last week. While it is officially spring and April – it snowed. Yes snowed. Where I live this is not very normal and while it was only a coating (about 1 inch) near me this crazy weather is driving me nuts! I needed to feel spring and the best way to do that for me is to dress in springy colors.

Top – Loft  Jeans – Gap Flats – JCrew Factory

DSC_0513

Since it was cold I paired this with my Michael Kors Leather Jacket

DSC_0511

Pink Ballet flats from JCrew – I got them for my engagement pictures

I am ready for spring weather to be here but the forecast seems like its going to be nice for now but get cold again. Nevertheless, I am busting out my spring clothes and pretending its spring temps in the meantime!

Stylish and comfy

DSC_0006

In person the top is not so see through – I promise (its my camera light + flash)

This past Saturday I had some work meetings with my husband. I wanted to be comfy but also well dressed. I opted for this top I have been loving from Zara. I got it for Christmas from Derrick (my husband).

DSC_0013

I love the lace detailing.
The top is super casual but the lace makes it!

DSC_0014

Side view of my bun (H&M) and you can see my blue earrings too. (they were a gift from my sister when she traveled to the Midwest)

I threw my hair up in a big bun (I have a bun donut in there). I wanted my hair out of my face and looking professional.

DSC_0017

I added this ring for some color pop.

DSC_0019

I got these Tom’s from my in-laws for Christmas. They are super comfy.

I picked these wedges since I would be moving around all day and they are really comfortable. My pants (which I didn’t get a full picture of – sorry!) are from Jcrew Factory. I kept my make up simple but added a pop of color on my lips to finish off the look!
